Jan 19th, 2012 In : Events, Important posts By : RKPR 0 Comments Tags: Winter Games

2002 Salt Lake Winter Games Ladies Figure Skating gold medalist Sarah Hughes will perform at an ice event culminating a series of celebrations during the tenth anniversary of the last Olympic Games in the United States.

The ice show, scheduled for Saturday, February 18 at the EnergySolutions Arena is part of an all-day slate of events. A Sports Festival at the Gateway Shopping Center in downtown Salt Lake City will offer an interactive way for people to share in Olympic spirit.

Hughes rocketed to instant stardom, pulling off an improbable come-from-behind gold medal victory ten years ago by bringing down the house with a flawless free skate performance. U.S. teammate and silver medalist Sasha Cohen will also perform as will the ice dancing duo of Jamie Sale and David Pelletier. The Canadian pair was awarded a co-gold medal during the Salt Lake competition after a controversial judging decision was overturned.

The RTWGC plans to on have a group attend the events in Salt Lake City and congratulates the city and region for their tremendous efforts in hosing the Games ten years ago and keeping the flame alive with the upcoming celebration.
